Chamomile: Chamomile tea when had immediately
before bed time will encourage sleep and will help greatly in disturbed
sleep patterns. Chamomile compress when applied to the head is also

Lavender oil: A few drops of lavender oil on
bed sheet or as vaporizer in a room will help in relaxation and
will ease in sleep.
Velarian and Vervain: Velarian and Vervain are
the herbs that promote relaxation. It helps in relieving of stress,
relaxes muscle and helps in sleep.
Bach flowers: Bach flower remedies are particularly effective
in relaxing a disturbed mind and help to soothe the tense muscles,
aiding in sleep.
Clove and Sage: Clove and sage teas are both

Lime flower, Skullcap and Borrage: Lime flower,
skullcao and borrage are usually used in a combination or in formulations
to aid sleep as they are soothing herbs.
Lettuce: Lectucarium is a component which is
found in lettuce and helps in sleeping as a sedative. The juice
of lettuce also effects as a sedative and has a similar sedative
action of opium.
Lettuce seeds taken in a decoction are also useful in insomnia.
One tablespoon of seeds should be boiled in half a litre of water,
till it is reduced by one-third.
Bottle Gourd: The mixture of bottle gourd juice
and sesame oil in 50:50 ratio acts as an effective medicine for
insomnia. It should be massaged over the scalp every night. The
cooked leaves of bottle gourd taken as a vegetable are also beneficial
in the treatment of this disease.
Aniseed: Aniseed tea is prepared by boiling about
375 ml of water in a vessel and adding a teaspoon of aniseed. The
water should be covered with a lid and allowed to simmer for fifteen
minutes.
Strain and enjoy. You can use honey, sugar to sweeten or even
milk if you like to.
Rauwolfia: The most effective herb of all is
Rauwolfia. The hypnotic action of the drug appears to have been
known since ancient times.
The powder of the root in a quantity of 0.25 gm to 0.5 gm should
be mixed with some scented substance like cardamom. You will have
a sound sleep during the entire night.
